Yes, Life happened!

I ran into an old friend as I stepped out of the sanctuary today. I had just received very well cooked food from my Preacher and was floating on the air…in my mind any way. We proceeded to talk shop and then he hit me in the blind side; ‘you have seemed distant to me in the last few years, but I can sense that life happened to you’………..

Just then, I travelled in my mind and the bell rang and I could hear the principal in a reverberating voice announcing; welcome to this school, you are about to experience life, brace yourself, for life is about to happen!

Welcome to 2014 and if you are like me, life has indeed happened to you in the last 379 days (rewind January 1st 2013). Life came in different shapes and sizes for me; from betrayals, to heartbreak, from disappointments to trials and yes there were a few sprinkles of triumph in between. My mind zaps back to the school and I raise my hand trying to get the principals attention, I really wanted to find out what the curriculum for the life happened course would be. As a good student, maybe I can prepare ahead and get some “Area of concentration”. Alas that is not to be, life just happens without advance warning, notice, preparation or timetables, it just comes firing with all six or eight cylinders.

Life was in such rapid progress in 2013 that at some point I could not keep up writing this blog whilst at the same time putting out fires, but I am back and this time hopefully better prepared to handle keeping up my favorite things whilst ‘life is happening’.

I sense that life is going to happen big time to you this year and from my experience, it’s not always a bad thing. One of the muscles I developed in the midst of the ‘happening’ was my character muscle. I can safely say I have grown from a 4 kg weight lifter to a 16 kg weight lifter and the new muscles don’t feel bad at all howbeit the pain it took to build them….

So what can we do in preparation for life happening in 2014?

1.      Keep a good attitude: One of the greatest things I have learnt to help me keep a good attitude is to always find something to be grateful for, no matter what happens and what I am going through. If you look deep within, there is still something to be thankful for, let that cheer you up and keep your head up. Keep a good attitude.

2.      Be Positive: The bible says; we know that all things work together for our good, so no matter what life throws at you in 2014, just note that it’s necessary ingredients to make the pot of stew of your life sweeter and more spicy.  Be positive that things are still going to get better and you would still fulfill your dreams.

3.      Don’t lose hope: Hope is the secret ingredient that keeps dreams alive despite the contrary nature of your circumstances. Be like a child; give your self-something to look forward to, to believe. Don’t let life steal your hope in 2014. Keep believing, keep hoping and keep reaching out for more and as life happens, you would always be on top.

Shhhhhh, Life is in session. How are you dealing with it?
